Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:

This tour is designed to create and maintain an awareness of the natural resources in the Alevkaya Forest and educate travelers of the unique orchids species of North Cyprus.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

Since 1996, we have been organising Botanical Tours in order to demonstrate the importance of sustainable tourism. The Alevkaya forest in North Cyprus is home to several endemic species of orchids like the Mt. Carmel Orchid, Dull Orchid, Ophrys Kotschyi (which only grows in Cyprus), Green-Winged Orchid, as well as scores of other non-orchid species like anemones, cyclamens, tulips, and wild poppies. North Cyprus' wealth of floral beauty has brought the island much tourist popularity and attraction.

At the end of this tour, you will be able to identify several species of endemic orchids of North Cyprus. All species of orchids in North Cyprus are protected as potentially threatened or even endangered, a notable act of conservation, so know by participating in and enjoying this breathtaking, educational tour, you will be imparted with knowledge and appreciation of such delicate flora.
