Glaro Gardens is a family-run accommodation in the heart of Dipkarpaz, where you are perfectly situated to enjoy a glimpse of traditional Cypriot village life, to explore the Karpaz countryside and to relax on nearby sandy beaches.
There are 5 separate stone-built bungalows housing six rooms (two of the rooms have an adjoining door making them suitable for families with young children). The bungalows are built in a traditional style in-keeping with the village heritage, and look onto the beautifully kept gardens of the guesthouse.
In addition to the five bungalows, there is the main building which houses the reception area, an inside and outside dining area, a small inside lounge area next to a fire place, and the guest house kitchens. The inside dining and lounge area are decorated with a variety of traditional Cypriot handicrafts including hand-made pottery and baskets. The outside dining area is situated on a veranda which overlooks the gardens and bungalows, and is the perfect place to enjoy a home-made Village breakfast before heading out for the day round the Karpaz.
The family who own and run the Glaro Gardens Guesthouse have their own organic vegetable garden which provides them and their visiting guests with some delicious vegetables, including tomatoes and cucumbers. The family also have a herd of sheep out in the fields surrounding Dipkarpaz and they go to milk them every day so that they can make fresh hellim cheese. Guests are always welcome to join the family when they are heading out to milk the sheep, which is a really unique experience that gives a wonderful insight into life in the Karpaz.
The Çebiler family are a warm and welcoming family who will be happy to give advice on good places to visit during your stay in the Karpaz. You can also join them on their daily trip to milk the sheep or in watering the organic vegetable garden. They are a family who will go out of their way to ensure you have the most fantastic and memorable holiday in the Karpaz, and you will probably leave wondering when you'll next be able to get a taste of their traditional, home-made Turkish food.
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
The Karpaz area is the focal point of responsible tourism in North Cyprus, and many of the accommodation providers in the Karpaz area take steps to support this type of tourism. This is especially prominent in accommodation providers who are based in the villages of Dipkarpaz and Buyukkonuk.
Glaro Gardens is an active member of the Karpaz Eco Tourism Union, of which Kaleidoskop Turizm is also an associate. As a member of this union, Glaro Gardens helps to support responsible tourism activities in the Karpaz through eco, rural and agri-tourism related activities.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Glaro Gardens has their own organic vegetable garden where they grow a variety of vegetables from tomatoes through to cucumbers. When in season, these vegetables are used to make both family and guest meals.
The family who own and run Glaro Gardens also have a herd of sheep which they mainly keep on the arable land surrounding Dipkarpaz. These sheep are kept in a traditional way, and are often accompanied by at least one member of the family, who sheperds them together in the late afternoon for milking. The milk obtained from these sheep is used to make helim cheese for both the family and guests.
Although quite recently built, Glaro Gardens has been built in a traditional style that is inkeeping with the rural aspect of the Dipkarpaz Village.
